Dr. William A. Lambeth, well known for his influence on Virginia athletics, served as Professor of Hygiene and Physical Education, Director of Athletics, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, was a Jefferson biographer, and helped shape the rules of modern college football. Lambeth, an authority on colonial architecture, directed the renovations of Pavilion VI in 1928 and oversaw the construction of the Colonnades at Lambeth Field, which is named in his honor.
