Jay Klingel retired from Facilities Management in 2014 after 35 years of service to the University of Virginia. As Director of Operations and Maintenance since 2004, Jay oversaw multiple departments totaling 750 individuals responsible for maintaining all of the University's buildings and grounds, as well as implementing improvement projects, managing graduation and storm events. Jay spearheaded such important projects such as the McCormick Road bridge replacement, a major renovation of the Lawn that included an innovative drainage system and new irrigation and a grounds-wide lighting improvement project. He served as a member of the Arboretum and Landscape Committee as well as the Safety and Security Committee.
